You can volunteer:
Southern Baptist disaster relief assessment teams have arrived in Haiti to plan volunteer deployment.
• First response -- Volunteers already trained to handle the physical, logistical, emotional and spiritual needs in a disaster area are needed. If you have disaster relief training and are available to go, contact your state Baptist convention to volunteer. Ask to speak to the Disaster Relief Office or Men's Ministries Department. Be aware that serious security concerns are emerging as people become more desperate for food and water in areas where police and military control has not been established.
•E-mail: E-mail haitiresponse@imb.org. Indicate your name and contact information, what skills you have and when you are available. Southern Baptists interested in donating supplies or offering other assistance also can send an e-mail to this address.
• Later response -- In addition to those trained in disaster relief, other volunteers may be requested for long-term assistance.
Disaster relief volunteer efforts will be coordinated among Southern Baptist entities, including Baptist Global Response.
