Meet the Staff
Dr. Scotty Carpenter, Pastor
Scotty loves being a pastor (most days) and has been on staff at Oakland since October of 2006. He sees his primary roles in the church as a teacher and leader. Scotty is excited about the potential he sees at Oakland. In addition to his ministry at Oakland, Scotty has served as pastor of churches in Indiana, Alabama and Florida over the past 14 years.
Scotty has earned degrees from The Baptist College of Florida (B.A.) and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div. and Ph.D.).
Scotty grew up next to his grandfather’s farm in Alabama and loves to be outdoors. He met his wife, Nancy while in college, and they have been married for three months longer than Scotty has been in ministry.
Trevor is the Worship Pastor and enjoys calling and encouraging others to a life of devotion and Worship of the Savior, Jesus Christ.
Trevor graduated from Bluefield College in 2000 with a B.A. in Music and a concentration in Church music. It was at this college that he was called into ministry and connected with his wife, Mary Ann, of nine years. Following, college Trevor began as a music minister in Bluefield WV. During that experience he was led to start his seminary career at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and is continuing to complete His MDiv. at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. Throughout this time, Trevor has served in several churches as a music, youth, and small group minister.
Trevor is excited to see what God has in store for Oakland Baptist Church where he has been the new guy since July 2009. He looks forward to God’s use of his life to stir others to seek the face of God, be on mission for Jesus and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. Come, now is the time to worship.
Drew Hunsley, Youth & Children's Pastor
Drew is the Youth and Children’s Pastor at Oakland and has been working here since September of 2008. He believes that church should be a fun and engaging place for everyone and is working to make the youth and children’s ministries at Oakland just that.
Drew graduated from Liberty University in December 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Youth Ministry. He also got married in January of 2009 to his wife, Kari. Drew has grown up in the Roanoke area before going to college and is very happy to be able to work in Roanoke as we try to reach the youth and children of the Roanoke Valley.
