Have you ever been in a quiet place, so quiet that you start hearing sounds and those sounds begin to make you think that there is something that you are hearing but cannot see. It could be that invisible ice, but then again ice does not make a sound, at least I don't think it does. I have heard all my life that snakes and other wild animals are more scared of me than I am of them. I just hope that they have been told the same thing.
We just visited Luray Caverns and we heard the stalactites played by an organ. The entertainment that we allow into our lives over time will shape our thinking and direction for our life. The organ played, "A Mighty Fortress is Our God." It was a first time experience.
The main idea of this blog is that Life Matters and as our premise, we must protect our thoughts by filtering the media that we allow into our mind. Many people long to be entertained so much that we can watch television on our tablets and phones, people sit still at the stop light when the light turns green because they are checking messages or snapping their friends. There is nothing wrong with staying up on the news, but many have become obsessed with electronics and games that we do not have time for family talks, walks or getting to know our neighbors.
Life matters and we must not only put good into our mind through media, but we must place the best in our lives by reading, studying and learning the Bible. The only way to change our actions is to change our heart, which begins with changing our input. Please guard your life by guarding your media consumption and getting the Word of God into your mind. Begin listening to the voice that God gives us.
Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice. So it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. Suddenly a voice came to him, and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 1 Kings 19:11-13
